Tony Hileman visiting

Tony Hileman, the executive director of the American Humanist Association will be our guest for the week end of Oct 8th through 10th.

Tony HilemanTony Hileman, the executive director of the American Humanist Association will be our guest for the week end of Oct 8th through 10th.  He will be speaking at the newly forming Chapter, The Humanists of North Eastern Illinois, which meets at the Congregation Beth Or in Deerfield.  HNEI members and friends will be attending the Friday evening gathering of the Congregation Beth Or.  Beth Or is an affiliate of the AHA, and Tony Hileman is speaking there on "The Progressive Nature of Humanism".

On Saturday, Tony will speak to the Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland, HWSC, that's us.  We will meet at the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church, DUUC, at seven 7:30 pm in Kreves Hall. His topic will be "The Human Side of Humanism".

Tony writes, "Humanism combines the emotional and the intellectual, the social and the individual, and the affirmative and the critical, into an empowering whole.  Recognizing that life is more than cognitive, we appreciate the full range of human emotion, from the varied reactions to life's tragedies to the wonder and awe at our natural self and surroundings.  This is one way we find purpose in a universe of probability and chance."

This is a Saturday night and we need your support.  Not only do we invite you to attend the 7:30 pm meeting at DUUC, but to also join us for dinner at 5:30 pm at the Grand Mandarin.  RSVP please.

Please let me know either way whether you will attend either or both of the events: Dinner at 5:30 pm and/or our Chapter meeting at 7:30 pm at DUUC.  Please don't wait.  Call 630 554 8058 or reply to this post --Jack@Skognet.com

We need you one more time in the morning.  Sunday, Oct 10th, Tony Hileman will be addressing the assembled congregation at DUUC.  His topic will be "Shaping the Future with Your Values".  Tony writes, "We live in troubled times.  Why aren't the values that inform our lives evident in the affairs of our global community?"  Tony will offer concrete suggestions for today's dilemmas and tomorrow's transformations.

Sunday Morning Services at DUUC are at 9:15 am and 11:00 am.  Please go out of your way to attend one of these Humanist Programs.  Tony Hileman is our executive director and principle spokesman for Humanism.  We need your support.
